About Solo Mommy Magazine
Solo Mommy™ Magazine (formerly SingleMomz) — the publication dedicated to empowering single moms with savvier ways to live a simpler life — was founded by vetern journalist Feona Sharhran Huff shortly after the birth of her daughter in 2000. An avid reader of the many parenting magazines on newsstands, Feona quickly realized that they seriously neglected to acknowledge and address issues concerning single moms, a parenting group which makes up more than 20 million people in the United States according to the Census Report.
That’s when Feona took matters into her own hands and created a magazine after single-mom needs. The first online edition of Solo Mommy™ Magazine — with departments including Lookin’ Lovely; Stylin’ Statement; Mind, Body, & Soul; To-Do, Ask Mom, She Knows; Finance Now, BizTalk; Livin’ & Learnin’, Just For Us; and You Go, Mom! — launched on the world wide the following year. Since its inception, Solo Mommy™ Magazine, which made its print debut on May 7, 2005 at its 1st Annual Mother’s Day Brunch at The Sugarhill Restaurant and Supper Club in Brooklyn, NY, continues to earn recognition from organizations and parenting groups for its personable approach, inspiring stories, and resource pool.
The magazine is distributed throughout the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut); Virginia; California; Pennsylvania; Maryland/Washington, D.C.; Georgia; Florida; Illinois; the Carolinas; and Texas. The magazine has received coverage in the international, national, and local media, including The New York Times, The New York Daily News, Ebony, The Philadelphia Tribune, Upscale, Today’s Black Woman, WOC (Women of Color), Our Time Press, Sister 2 Sister, SUCCEED, WWRL 1600 AM and Radioscope.

You Said It! Testimonies From Satisfied Subscribers
“Solo Mommyâ„¢ Magzine is providing a much needed resource for single mothers, and as parents in general. The motivational theme behind the magazine has helped me to feel that I'm not alone on my plight to raise my child. It's very encouraging to see how other mothers have made it through their struggles.â€
—Khadijah Carter, single mom and president of NuVibes PR
“Solo Mommyâ„¢ Magzine premiere print issue is a testament of faith. Ms. Huff demonstrated her passion for writing by unselfishly joining other single mothers from different parts of the country to come as one under her first issue. Not only did she dedicate her time, energy, and commitment, but she multi-tasked it all and still devoted time to her children. The first issue is a great accomplishment! I am so proud of her.â€
—Karla Denise Baker, single mom and author of BackBone
“Bless you for having the insight and determination to provide single moms with a source of information and outreach. This connection is so very needed. As a promotions and marketing director, as well as freelance writer, I’m proud to know there are others like me working hard to succeed. Keep up the good work.â€
